There's a lot to discover in and around Herne. First our 570th fun fair (carnival). It is the largest in our state and the fourth largest in Germany. It starts each year at the first Friday in August and lasts 10 days.

- Indoor and outdoor pools, and a large spa and saune area at the Gysenberg Park
- Bergbaumuseum (= the wirld's largest coal mining museum) in Bochum
